Book Sales

The Spring Book Sale will be here before you know it. If you have items to donate, please bring them to the lobby of the Thomas Library. Volunteers are needed to help sort materials the week before the sale begins

Friends Preview Sale - April 20, 2018
 Book Sale - April 21 - 22, 2018

Friends Preview Sale - October 19, 2018
 Book Sale - October 20 - 21, 2018

Friday - Friends of the Library Preview  (members only)

 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday - Public Sale
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The Board of the Friends voted to ban the use of electronic scanning devices at their book sales. The devices are often used by for-profit dealers to mine our sale stock for the most valuable titles and our Friends want our sales to benefit as many of our regular library patrons as possible.

Books, magazines, records, toys, puzzles, and audio-visual materials may be donated for the sales throughout the year by placing the items in the collection box near the entrance of the Thomas Library. Friends then sort and price the items for the sales. We only take magazines from the current year to sell at our distribution rack in the library.

We can not use damaged books or books without covers, smelly or water mildewed books, textbooks, or encyclopedia and reference sets more than 10 years old.

Membership dues are $5 for an individual and $10 for a family. A membership in the Friends entitles a patron to attend the Friends Only Preview Night at the beginning of each sale.

Volunteers are always needed to help sort materials and assist with the sales.

Proceeds from the sales are used to supplement many library functions such as public programming, speaker fees, film rentals, summer reading prizes, and various staff and volunteer recognition events.
