Guide to InstantFlix

Westchester Public  Library is pleased to announce the launch of InstantFlix for Libraries, a premier online streaming service providing access to award-winning independent films, shorts, and documentaries from around the world.

With your library card, you now have unlimited access to thousands of free streaming film-festival hits, including the best of Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca, and more. InstantFlix is available on Apple®, Android™, and all Internet-enabled devices. You can also watch films on a television with AppleTV, Roku, or Xbox devices.


Instructions for computers and internet-enabled mobile devices  (such as iPad, iPhone and Android Devices):

  1. Follow the link above or on our homepage to create your RBdigital Account (InstantFlix/Zinio).
  2. If you have already created an account for the Library's Digital Magazine Collection (Zinio), use that account for InstantFlix.
  3. If you have not already created an account, click Create New Account and enter your library card number, when prompted.
  4. Create your account with an email address and password.
  5. Start browsing your movies! When you see one you want, just click play. No need to check out materials or wait for them to be returned!

Instructions for AppleTV
You will need:

  1. Create an account following the instructions above.
  2. Access InstantFlix through a web browser (i.e. Safari) and find a movie to watch.
  3. Send it to your AppleTV with Airplay. AppleTV and the device should be on the same "home share" network (set in settings). Learn more at

Instructions for Roku Devices  (You will need internet access on a separate computer/device for initial set-up.):

  1. Create an account following the instructions above.
  2. Power up your Roku device and select the IndieFlix channel. It is located in the Movies and TV section of the channel store.
  3. Select “Add Channel” then go to the InstantFlix channel.
  4. Choose any film and select “Watch Full Film”. This will bring up your activation code.
  5. Going back to your computer or mobile device, access the InstantFlix for Libraries site using the link above or on our homepage. Sign into IndieFlix.
  6. On the InstantFlix for Libraries site, click the “My Account” button (bottom left corner).
  7. On the “My Account” page, you will see an “Activate Your Roku/Xbox” button on the upper right. Click the “Roku” button.
  8. Enter your activation code.
  9. You’re good to go! You only need to set-up the Roku once. Add InstantFlix for Libraries to your channels.
  10. If you have more than one Roku device, you will need to follow the set-up instructions for each unit as each has a separate activation code.

Instructions for Xbox  (You will need internet access on a separate computer/device for initial set-up.):

  1. Create an account following the instructions above or if you have already created an account, sign into InstantFlix.
  2. Once on the InstantFlix for Libraries site, go to the “My Account” page and click the "Activate Xbox" button on the upper right. This will generate an activation code for you to enter on your Xbox.
  3. Power up your Xbox and on the Xbox home screen, select the “App” page. Browse Apps until you find IndieFlix and download the app.
  4. Select the "Log In" tile on the home screen of the InstantFlix app. This will open a box for you to type in the activation code.
  5. Enter the code and you're good to go!
  6. Repeat these steps for multiple Xbox devices, as each Xbox will need to be connected to your IndieFlix membership.
